Engine Room

For a boat its size, the Selene 36 has a very spacious engine room.  There is good room on either side of the engine and enough height that you don't need to crawl around on your hands and knees to access things.
This is a view from just inside the shower entrance to the engine room looking forward.  The engine exhaust exits from the turbo charger rises up over the engine, receives coolant waste water than goes to the muffler can just behind the engine start battery at the lower left of the photo.  The Onan generator is at the right-forward corner of the engine room.

This view is from the opposite corner of the engine room looking back towards the engine room entrance from the aft stateroom shower stall.  The battery on the right of the image is the same one in the previous photo by the exhaust muffler can.

Here, we are looking towards the forward right hand side of the engine room.  The ladder leads to an access hatch in the salon floor. The exhaust muffler can in the center bottom of the image is for the genset. 

On each side of the engine room compartment are 250 gallon diesel fuel tanks. At the rear of the engine room are the fuel manifolds.  The top horizontal manifold is for fuel return, the bottom manifold is for fuel supply.  The two white cylinders with glass bowls underneath are the Racor fuel filters/water separators.  Our practice is to run on one filter and keep the other as "spare" should the first plug up.  The vertical stainless steel tubes on either side are the fuel tank sight gauges.  These have a magnet on a float the goes up & down flipping over color tiles as it moves.  Really neat looking and very accurate.
