May 12 - Nanaimo

We left Stuart Island bright and early with the anchor stowed by 6:40 AM. We needed to be at Dodd Narrows for the slack current by 1:15 PM.

While the skies were generally sunny the further north we went the more the winds out of the NW picked up. We were happy to not be out on the Straits of Georgia where small craft alerts were posted.

We reached Dodd Narrow on time but had to wait along with several other boats for a log raft going south to clear the channel.

It remained pretty lump all the way into Nanaimo Harbor. We cleared customs over the phone tied up to the fuel dock then motored 60 yards across to tie up at the S-Dock (May 12). I grabbed a spot on the dock where the wind pushed me into the dock rather than my having to fight the wind.

Coincidentally, the Ursa Major, the vessel that Marcia crewed on from LaPaz Mexico to Seattle was also on S-Dock. We're stopping by for cocktails at 5:30 this evening.

We haven't checked the weather for tomorrow yet. If it remains real windy out on the Straits of Georgia we'll probably wait another day to cross.
