May 15th - Campbell River

We decided to head over to the major community of Campbell River (May 15) on Vancouver Island in order to have some service on the boat done.

We've been experiencing some odd electrical issues and believe we may have a failed battery in our house bank (that would probably be the least expensive explanation). Rather than continue cruising in the more remote regions north of here with a known problem, we've decided to get it fixed now. The service tech is coming by tomorrow morning at 8 AM to load test the batteries.

The weather remains outstanding. We cruised around the south end of Quadra Island near Cape Mudge with little more than rippled seas. During the foul winter months, when strong SE winds meet an opposing maximum flood current off Cape Mudge, fishing boats have capsized.

As far as next steps, that depends on what the service tech discovers. An easy fix means we might get back on the "road" tomorrow. A more complex issue could keep us tied to the dock for a little longer.

We'll keep our fingers crossed.
