May 28th - Sutherland Bay, Drury Inlet

The weather today turned out to be some of the best of the trip so far. It was a bit foggy when we awakened but burned off by 8 AM. It was sunny or partly all day. A bit of a breeze was with us much of the day but we had a nice section of totally calm conditions in the afternoon.

After breakfast, we kayaked to the Muirhead Islets, about a mile away. It felt good to get off the boat and paddle around.

I watched an episode of Band of Brothers in the late morning while Marcia played bridge with the computer. In the afternoon, we lounged on the fly bridge, mostly reading. We even had Maggie (our bold cat) lounging with us in the sun. Marcia brought Annie (our timid cat) up to the fly bridge for a short time but it was clear that she wanted no part of it. She was soon back in the aft cabin, sleeping under the covers. We’re sure that Annie thinks it is all a bad dream and one of these times she’ll awaken and be back home in Seattle.

Tomorrow’s plan is to reverse out path into Drury Inlet than take a turn north and go a few miles up to Claydon Bay. We’ll pull the anchor about 1 PM in order to hit slack through Stuart Narrows.
