May 13th - Ballet Bay

The winds starting letting up on the evening of the 12th and by morning they were generally light. We pulled away from the dock at 6:50 AM.  Four other trawlers, including Ursa Major, left well before us.

After exiting from Nanaimo Harbour and clearing the islands near the entrance, it was a 31 mile leg across the Straits of Georgia, past Texada Island and well up Malaspina Strait.  The waters were a little lumpy in the Straits of Georgia (although no more than in the more protected waters we had traveled the day before) and pretty glassy up Malaspina Strait.

We dropped anchor in Ballet Bay just off of Blind Bay (May 13) at 1:40 PM.  So far we have traveled 110.5 nautical miles from Anacortes Marina. When you chug along at 6 knots or so, that is three days of travel.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, we'll head north into Desolation Sound.  Not sure what site, but I am sure it'll be lovely.
