Marcia did the daily check at the local post office to see whether our package (the Nanopulser) had shown up. It hasn't but we know from the USPS tracking number and web site that it is in BC somewhere. The post office staff said things often take four days from Vancouver. We decided to head out for a few days and come back to Port McNeill sometime next week and, hopefully, pick it up then.
We cast off about 11 AM and headed over to the Broughtons, a very large and noted cruising area. There are many places to drop an anchor. After about 22 miles of cruising at 2:45 PM, we had the anchor down, chain snubbed off and engine turned off. We are in Waddington Bay on Bonwick Island (May 25 ). We've been here only an hour and already saw a black bear walking the shore (its low tide) looking for a meal.
This will give us a good chance to test our charging protocol of charging twice a day, morning and evening. We've been recording lots of data (time, voltage, amps and amp-hours). I've built an Excel spreadsheet to show both the charge cycle and discharge cycle. If we see any improvement or degradation in the battery capacity, it should be readily apparent from the data we are capturing.
The weather was a thin overcast this morning but the winds were light. The NW winds are picking up as forecasted as a low drops down across Vancouver Island this afternoon/evening. The forecast I read online at the laundromat (free WiFi!) spoke of a big high setting up next week in the Western United States forcing any inclement weather up through BC. I hope either the forecasters are wrong or that there are no lows heading our way.
