June 20th - Princess Louisa Inlet

We're currently tied to the park dock at Princess Louisa Inlet (June 20). The inlet is truly stunning. Mountains tower several thousand feet above the inlet which continues the plunge to depths of a thousand feet or more. Steams tumble down cliffs up and down the inlet. Chatterbox Falls at the inlet head cascades down cliffs one after another. The scenery equals or exceeds everything I've heard or read.

Because it is extremely difficult to anchor here, the BC parks have provided a dock at which 15-20 boats can moor. We were fortunate to snap up a spot on the dock. It is a bit of a cultural shock because we've not had to share the same dock space with so many others except in the towns where we've moored. There is a public campground feel to things where you watch what your neighbors are doing and can smell what they are barbequing.

We will be here for two nights. Because the inlet is "guarded" by Malibu Rapids which have to be timed, we're waiting for "high slack" on Friday before leaving. That should leave us enough time on Friday afternoon to retrace our long journey up Jervis Inlet and get to a convenient anchorage.

p.s. - I want to wish a very happy birthday to my wonderful Mother who is celebrating the anniversary of her 39th birthday. She is an inspiration to all of us!
