June 9th - Bottled-up in Bottleneck Inlet

Based on the forecasted storm, we decided to hole up in Bottleneck Inlet today. Two other sailboats are here with us. The rains began early this morning and have continued pretty much continuously the entire day.

One phenomenon we observed today are freshwater rain drops floating on the saltwater briefly, a second or two, before "bursting." Freshwater is less dense than saltwater.

Bottleneck is an excellent storm anchorage and we never saw any winds to speak of. While listening to the weather report on the radio, we heard lighthouse reports on the coast of 50 MPH gusts and 15 foot combined (swell & wind) seas. We're glad we aren't there.

We're hoping to get out of here tomorrow. We want to take a detour to Klemtu to refill water tanks (if only we could have figured out how to capture all this rain) before proceeding back to Rescue Bay. The day ought to be relatively short at only 22 miles.
