June 6th - Emily Bay, Briggs Inlet

We got our early morning start and were away at 6:00 AM. We finally had both the ebb current and the fresh water drainage in our favor so we were travelling at a high rate of speed for us (i.e., >7 knots).

Today's destination is Emily Bay (June 6) in Briggs Inlet. The guide books talk about how lovely it is and they weren't exaggerating. Since Briggs Inlet is a little off the beaten track, we are not expecting to see anyone else here. So far, we have it to ourselves.

We had the anchor down and engine off by 12:30 PM. We are anchored in about 60 feet of water which is deep for us. It took 200 feet of chain to get us to our preferred scope of 3 to 1.

Despite the cloudy weather, we broke out the kayaks and paddled around the bay. It felt good to be outside after two days cooped up on the boat.

Tomorrow is another early start to time some narrows near the entrance to Briggs Inlet.
