The rain dancing on the roof greeted us this morning. Fortunately, the showers let up as the morning went on. After the rains, we paddled through the cove and its various inlets then came back to the boat for breakfast.
In the early afternoon, we paddled ashore and picked up the trail that makes its way to the point above the cove's entrance. The walk was pleasant and typical San Juan/Southern BC Coast vegetation, lots of salal, madrona (arbutus in Canada), douglas fir and, of course, moss. We ate a late lunch on the fly bridge when we returned. The weather was generally sunny but windy and cool.
Being a weekend and Smuggler Cove close to things (Vancouver is probably 25 miles southeast of here), it has been busy with comings and goings of boats. We spend a lot of time watching other boaters anchor, looking for brilliant tips for us to pick up (also second guessing their decisions).
We'll probably get a somewhat early start tomorrow across the Strait of Georgia because the winds are usually lighter in the morning. It is a short day, 25 miles, to Silva Bay on Gabriola Island and we are hoping to be on a dock (cross our fingers that there is room). It is time to do laundry again.
