Just one more night in Canadian Gulf Islands before crossing back to the San Juan Islands. Today was a short cruise, about 14 miles, to Portland Island (June 27). Despite our leisurely start shortly after 9 AM, we were anchored and stern-tied by 12:15 PM.
The weather remained pretty nice today and we took advantage of it by going for a walk on Portland Island. The entire island is a marine park and it has a number of trails. We ended up doing close to 4 miles, first across the island to the south anchorage and then along the west shore of the island.
Despite our being less than four miles from Sydney, we are the only ones in this anchorage. Of course, the locals may know something we don't because we get the wake from the passing Sydney-Vancouver ferry about once an hour. A little bouncy but not too bothersome.
Tomorrow night will be at the dock in Rosario Resort.
