We cruised north along the glassy waters of Mathieson Channel into Fiordland Recreation Area. We detoured slightly to see the beautiful Kynoch Falls. While probably less than a 100 feet high, it is wide and plunges directly into the channel. It draws your eye to it from several miles away. We couldn't resist its call.
After passing through Mathieson Narrows, we traveled down Sheep Passage into Findlayson Channel. Our destination today is Bottleneck Inlet (June 8).
Our route today took us as far north as we'll get on this trip. We'll be working our way back south so as to arrive back in Anacortes by July 4.
We may get a slow start on the journey south because a storm is coming in tonight. We chose Bottleneck Inlet in part because it has excellent protection from wind and the bottom has very good holding mud for the anchor. We're at a 4 to 1 anchor scope which should be plenty solid.
On account of the weather, we expect to be here tomorrow night as well. We'll continually monitor the weather radio to see whether Sunday allows us to move further south.
